LAHORE: More than 2,000 Sikh pilgrims reached Pakistan from India to celebrate the festival of Baisakhi, alternately called Vaisakhi, Samaa TV reported Wednesday.

The festival is held annually to commemorate the harvesting season of the rabi crop. Three trains wheeled the Sikh pilgrims from India to Pakistan via Wagah Border.
From Wagah Border, the pilgrims travelled to Hassanabdal, Punjab, where one of their holiest places, called Gurudwara Panja Sahib, is located.
The Sikh pilgrims will stay in Hassanabdal until April 14.
Accommodation, food and other facilities for the guests have been arranged by federal government. Lavish festivities have been planned for April 14 at Panja Sahib, where a rock, said to have the hand impression of Guru Nanak imprinted on it, lies.
The pilgrims will visit Gurudwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahab near Lahore on April 15 and the next day, they will visit Gurudwara Sucha Sauda, Farooqabad to continue with their rituals.
The pilgrims will then visit Gurudwara Dera Sahib in Lahore on April 18. They will visit Kartarpur, Narowal on April 19 and return to Lahore on the same day.
